Information |
Groovy Gumlet (グルービー・ガムレット) is the Sixth ranking Divine General of the Sacred Vollachia Empire.
Appearance[]
Groovy has a small body covered with brown fur with black spots and whiskers on his face. He has cream-colored fur on his chest, his muzzle, and on the tip of his tail. Groovy also wears numerous belts across his body, which he uses to carry his weapons. For defense, he wears a bronze left breastplate and a small shoulder plate on his left shoulder. In addition, Groovy dons both a yellow scarf around his neck and dark olive-green toeless leather pants.
Personality[]
Despite his small stature, Groovy is a hothead who speaks in a rather vulgar manner and is very short-tempered. He is loyal to the Emperor and has a sense of camaraderie with his allies, including other Divine Generals like Balleroy and Moguro. In his free time, Groovy not only tends to the gardens of the Crystal Palace, but he also likes to restore old buildings or ruins with historic value.
History[]
Roughly four to five months before Arc 1, a rebellion in Vollachia was started by Gramdart Holstoy and Balleroy Temeglyph. Together, Groovy and Moguro Hagane were dispatched from the Imperial Capital of Lupugana by Goz Ralfon to retrieve the Emperor, Vincent Vollachia, while Cecilus Segmunt left on his own accord to accomplish the task. Vincent was kidnapped by Reinhard van Astrea, Julius Juukulius, and Ferris, then in the Empire to negotiate a non-aggression pact alongside Council of Wise Men members Miklotov McMahon and Bordeaux Zellgef. Although Moguro initially took Ferris captive, the Sword Saint later freed him and began turning the tables against the two generals, which allowed for the other two knights to escape with Vincent. Groovy and Moguro were later forced to retreat from Reinhard due to his sheer power, and after running to Cecilus, Reinhard was given a chance to render the Blue Lightning unconscious, forcing the pair into submission and causing them to fall back with the unconscious general. After the rebellion was quelled, Groovy met with Vincent in Lupugana's Crystal Palace alongside Moguro, Goz, and Chisha Gold, where they discussed the incident.
Abilities[]
Weapon Mastery: Groovy is described as a walking venerable armoury of weapons and is extremely skilled at using them. He possesses much less a traditional fighting style than he does a high level of instinct, natural physical power, and speed, which all work well with his various tools. As a result, he can turn into a nearly literal and lethal whirling blade of death.
Equipment: Groovy wields an assortment of weapons and curse tools in his arsenal. He has throwing knives with the poison of a snake person within them, shurikens attached on his waist, a magic crystal embedded within his throat that temporary allows him to use a roaring attack, and multiple types of curse tools.
- Blood Hatchets (血斧, Chi Ono): These are curse tools that uses their holders' blood to acquire a target. If a target gets the Groovy's blood on themselves or their clothes, the hatchets will proceed to lock on to a target and attempt to land a blow on them.
- Magic Knuckles (魔手甲, Ma Tekkō): Groovy's Magic Knuckles are gloves with magic stones embedded within which allow him to use non-elemental spells simply made up of mana.
Trivia[]
- Groovy Gumlet was the first person to be appointed as a Divine General by Vincent not counting Chisha and Cecilus, who were already Vincent's pawns prior to him becoming Emperor. Groovy's appointment was mostly thanks to his talent.
- An anecdote going around in Vollachia claims that Groovy would be able to catch up to someone in the Empire if they were to flee to somewhere else with just his sense of smell alone,[1] though it is just a rumor that's not known to be true or false.
References[]
- ↑ As one of the Nine Divine Generals, the sense of smell of the hyenaman Groovy Gumlet was preeminent even among fellow demi-humans of beast-human lineage. He could probably catch someone if they fled from one end of the Empire to the other, so much so that that unfunny funny anecdote was circulated about.
